The North Country National Scenic Trail is a premier footpath that stretches for about 4600 miles linking communities, forests, and prairies across seven northern states. Already, more than 1800 miles have been certified off-road. Additional miles follow shared paths, and some road walks yet remain. The North Country Trail is built and maintained primarily by volunteers. Volunteers are continually developing new trail segments, improving existing segments and obtaining landowners permission for the trail to cross their land.
The North Country National Scenic Trail is administered by the National Park Service.
